| Large enough to grind up to 2-1/2 ounces of coffee beans (enough for 12 cups), this powerful grinder ensures that freshly ground coffee is quickly available, even for big coffeemakers in the office. The details are what make this grinder exceptional: The lid is transparent for monitoring the grind, and has two down-pointing ribs to guide beans toward the blades for even grinding. The design of the stainless-steel blades, combined with the 150-watt motor, means beans can be ground quickly without overheating and spoiling the coffee's taste. For safety, the grinder will not work unless the lid is securely in place and locked down. Finally, the power cord wraps around the grinder's bottom for neat storage. Clad in gleaming white, the grinder carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack |

My unit has been smoothly grinding coffee beans for over a year, and shows no signs of slowing down. If I had to replace this grinder tomorrow, I wouldn't hesitate to buy the same model again.
Yes, it is loud while it's grinding but the noise never lasts more than about 10 seconds. Often I just pulse it a few times for 2-3 seconds each. It's the smell of fresh coffee, not the sound of the grinder that gets our family out of bed in the morning.
After a year I'm happy to report that the motor isn't evidencing any signs of fatigue, nor do the blades seem to be dulling. I'm not too hard on it though -- it's used less than half a minute every day. It never grinds anything harder than frozen coffee beans. And I never use anything wet or damp to clean the inside. After tapping out all of the freshly ground coffee, I wipe out any residual "coffee dust" with a dry paper towel.
I feel that it's a very efficient coffee grinder, and an excellent value for the price.
UPDATE: It's now March 2009, almost seven years after I wrote the above review. I'm still using the same coffee grinder every morning (and twice on Saturdays). It's held up fine and shows no signs of slowing down. The reliability has been excellent! |
Except for the cheap feel it is perfect!

| It is hard to find a grinder with all of the features you like in one machine. I have owned several Krups, but now the plastic cup on top is too shallow and if you grind a full amount you can't invert the ground coffee into the clear cup. Some have very inconvenient cord storage...often fraying dangerously at the point where they bend upon attaching to the grinder. I have tried the Melitta Burr grinder...the static electricity (a major consideration) made a mess every time I used it...gave it away. The top feels cheap on this Braun and it is noisy, but it does have all the features I need in one grinder and is an excellent bargain. |

| I just thought I'd share my experience with this product. I purchased this grinder more than 12 years ago, and it still works as good as new. It's perfect. Before using grinders belonging to friends, I figured they were all pretty much the same. Not true. This one's simple, powerful, fast, and attractive. I'm about to buy a second one in black. |
Perfect Grinder. Easy. Attractive. Simple to Use.

Lift cap. Pour in whole beans. Replace cap. Press button for five seconds -- longer if you want espresso. It makes perfect coffee grounds each and every time. This Brauns grinds a lot of beans at one time.
Depending on the oil content of the beans, some grinds (like flavored) might stick to the bottom of grinder. To loosen them, tap the Brauns gently against your palm.
To clean, unplug grinder. Wipe down grinding area with damp paper towel.
This grinder doesn't take up much counter space. It grinds the beans evenly. You control the machine and the type of grind you want. The longer you push the cap's button, the smaller the grounds will be.
I've had my Braun for eight years. I use it every day. It hasn't failed me yet. When and if it does, I'll buy another in the blink of an eye.
***UPDATE*** May 2009 - I'm still using the same coffee grinder 11 years later. Works great.
***UPDATE*** July 2010 - Still working as well as the day I bought it. |
