Hamilton Beach 80355 Custom Grind Coffee Grinder, Platinum
I had one jus like this for years and I finally broke it. I was happy to see that this model is still available. One of the few you will find with a retractable cord and multi setings. |

| Had the product for over three years, still working flawlessly! Very easy and simple to use, just clean with a wet paper towel afterwards. |

This is a great coffee grinder. It does an excellent job grinding beans for both my drip coffee machine and my espresso machine - other machines I've tried do not grind the beans fine enough for the espresso machine.
I also love that I can turn it on, leave it and it turns itself off automatically and the cord stowage feature is so useful. |
good spice grinder, also fine tune pre-ground espresso

Really works well when used with a shaking action (like shaking a martini) it throws the ingredients directly at the blade - somehow breaking things up into finer particles, faster. I make a sort of super-concentrated matcha from sencha using this technique.
I have another one that I use to re-grind my cheaper espresso to the exact consistency that I want right before I brew it - you can't rely on the markings on the side, though. I just keep it pegged at the bottom (longest setting). Depending on the consistency (brand) of espresso, I just count how many times the contents 'bounce' inside the grinder. For example - a double shot of Bustelo, ground to perfection (for my espresso maker) bounces 16 times before I shut it off.
It all sounds a bit weird, but I do what it takes to get the results I want. Especially when it comes to stimulant-laden beverages. Bonus: no post-consumer regret - it's between $19-$29 depending on where you buy it! |
Very good, for a blade grinder

This is probably one of the best blade grinders out there. The top locks nicely and serves well as a measuring cup, eliminating the scoop step. It has three coarseness settings that seem to work well enough to differentiate, along with cup amounts. The amount lever is a little hard to tell what cup amount its on, however. Anyways, bottom line: it grinds great with little mess.
