Peggy Lee is one of the coolest, steamiest, most sensuous singer to hit the music scene in any era, in my opinion.
How can you not love this song?
Seda !!!
she’s a giant….underastimated i suppose, but one of the greatest female voices ever
Condolli on trumpet – one of top trumpet studio/jazz players around – sadly passed now – did a lot with Shelly Manne.
@jrd11heyman
I concur
Such a mellow smokey voice, sweet & sexy.
I just listened to Julie London’s version, Ella Fitzgerald’s version, and Sarah Vaughan’s version of this song all in a row and I must say I enjoy this version the most. She’s got such an infectious voice! Amazing
@jakeyates2 YES!!!!! thats the first thing I thought. i was dead within the first five seconds of the song, like you said who ever is playin their nasty, their rediculious.
@GordonSpot920 couldn’t agree more. She has the smoke in her voice, the seduction in the subtle nuances of her vibrato and just class man, class.
Puts lead in your pencil
i love tat the sadder the wrds the hotter the brass, the cooler her voice
Man, what trumpet player is on this recording? Nasty!!
paradise!
stupendo
Peggy Lee did it long before Julie London, who was a big fan of Peggy. To me, Julie’s version is just okay, and clearly inspired by Peggy’s; I far prefer Peggy’s version.
Who did it first? Julie London or Peggy Lee? i prefer julies verion;
This music is awesome
tasty
Well, in your opinion she takes it.
I love both singers, but I don’t find anything remarkable about Sarah’s interpretation of “Black Coffee”. In my opinion, Peggy did the definitive version of “Black Coffee”: its the equivalent of film noir in music!
nice version, but the “Sassy One” takes the prize!
perfect
That is Pete Candoli on the trumpet!!!! He did the original with her under the name of “Cootie Chesterfield” It was re released a few years ago in CD under his correct name of Pete Candoli….
MMMMMMMMM
So smooth oh yea.
